The large estate felt quiet and peaceful once again.
The dark storm cloud over the family had finally cleared.
Mark walked back upstairs to check on his sleeping daughter.
Little Lily was sitting up in her pink bed holding her teddy bear.
Lily: Is the mean lady gone forever now, Daddy?
Mark: Yes sweetheart, she will never come back here again.
Mark sat down on the edge of the soft bed.
He hugged his little girl tightly against his warm chest.
Mark: You are completely safe here with me always.
Sarah stood near the open doorway watching the sweet moment.
She smiled gently and turned to return downstairs to work.
Mark: Sarah, please wait a moment before you go.
Sarah stopped and looked back into the bright bedroom.
Sarah: Yes Mr. Sterling, do you need anything else?
Mark stood up and walked over to the young housemaid.
Mark: You showed immense courage and loyalty to my family today.
Sarah: I was just doing what was right for Lily, sir.
Mark: It was much more than just doing your daily job.
Mark took out a legal document from his inner suit jacket pocket.
Mark: I am offering you a permanent position as house manager.
Sarah looked at the paper with wide, surprised eyes.
Sarah: House manager with full estate oversight responsibilities?
Mark: You will oversee all staff and manage our family estate affairs.
The new position came with a generous salary and private quarters.
Mark: You deserve trust and respect in this household, Sarah.
Tears of happiness filled Sarah's dark eyes as she smiled.
Sarah: I am honored to accept this offer, Mr. Sterling.
Little Lily ran over and wrapped her small arms around Sarah's waist.
Lily: I am so happy you are staying with us forever!
Sarah knelt down and hugged the happy child tightly back.
Sarah: I will always be here to protect you, sweetheart.
Mark looked at them both with deep gratitude in his heart.
