Eleanor walked quickly toward the main wooden doors of the bright luxury manor.
Arthur caught her by the wrist before she could step outside into the sunlight.
His grip was tight and his voice was low so nobody else could hear.
Arthur: You are acting completely crazy in front of all our rich friends.
Eleanor: Let go of my arm right now, Arthur, or I will scream.
Arthur: That kid is just a beggar trying to steal our money today.
Eleanor: He has my personal locket that was stolen from my hospital room!
Boy: Mommy said the tall man took her away from the big house.
The boy pointed his tiny dirty finger straight at Arthur's dark navy suit.
The entire room held its collective breath as the words sank into everyone.
Eleanor pulled her arm free from Arthur's grasp with all of her strength.
She looked at her husband like he was a complete stranger standing before her.
Eleanor: What did you do to my baby ten long years ago?
Arthur: I did what was necessary to protect this family and our name!
Eleanor: You lied to me about my own child dying in that hospital!
Arthur: She was sick and her mother was a simple maid who ruined us!
The mayor stood up from his chair with a very serious look on his face.
He pulled out his mobile phone and dialed the local police station immediately.
Arthur stepped back toward his private study room near the back wall corner.
He knew the paper trail inside his desk would ruin his entire life now.
Eleanor did not wait for him to explain anything else to the crowd.
She grabbed the little boy's warm hand and headed out the front doors.
They hurried down the bright white marble stairs into the warm sunshine outside.
The young child guided her down the long gravel driveway toward the main road.
