Mark pulled the small child gently out from the cramped wall cavity into the light.
Sarah took two quick steps back while gasping in complete shock.
Sarah: Who is that child, Mark?
Mark: I have no idea, but she just called me her father.
Mark looked closely at the young girl's delicate face and light brown hair.
He saw his own eyes reflected in the child's tearful expression.
A strange feeling of recognition washed over Mark as he held her arms.
The girl wore an old blue sweater that looked strangely familiar to him.
It was a sweater that had belonged to his late sister years ago.
Mark: What is your name, sweetie?
Child: My name is Lily.
Mark felt a cold chill run straight down his spine at that answer.
Lily was the name his ex-fiancée Chloe had chosen for their baby years ago.
Chloe had moved away six years ago after their sudden and bitter breakup.
She had told him back then that she had lost the pregnancy entirely.
Mark: How did you get inside this house, Lily?
Lily: The lady brought me here last night while you were away.
Lily pointed her tiny finger straight at Sarah who was standing near the stairs.
