A New Reign

The morning sun filtered through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows of the executive boardroom on the top floor of the Sterling Global Logistics tower in downtown Dallas. The massive mahogany table was surrounded by twelve senior board members, all sitting in tense expectation.

Evelyn walked into the room wearing a tailored charcoal suit, her dark hair swept up neatly. Lily walked beside her, holding her mother's hand while carrying a small stuffed bear.

Board Member 1: "Good morning, Mrs. Sterling."

Evelyn: "Good morning, gentlemen. Please, take your seats."

Evelyn sat at the head of the table—the seat once occupied by her late husband, Arthur, and briefly usurped by Richard.

Board Member 2: "Mrs. Sterling, we've reviewed the preliminary forensic audit reports handed over by Mr. Vance this morning. The extent of Richard's embezzlement is... staggering."

Evelyn: "I know. Over fifty million dollars funneled into shell companies over the last two years."

Board Member 1: "The stock price dropped seven percent when news of his arrest broke at dawn. The public is terrified the company is going under."

Evelyn: "The company isn't going under. Because today, we are announcing a complete restructuring of our management board."

Board Member 3: "Restructuring? Do you have experience running a logistics operation of this scale, Evelyn?"

Evelyn rested her hands flat on the mahogany table, looking directly at the skeptical board member.

Evelyn: "Before I married Arthur, I managed operations for regional transport hubs in three states for eight years. I have a degree in supply chain management from Texas A&M. Arthur didn't hire me to be his wife—he met me while I was fixing a distribution bottleneck that was costing his company four million dollars a year."

The board member blinked in surprise, leaning back into his leather chair without another word.

Mr. Vance: "Mrs. Sterling was the silent architect behind Arthur's 2024 expansion plan. Her qualifications are beyond reproach."

Evelyn: "Thank you, David. Now, here is our plan. We are liquidating Richard's personal assets and seizing his offshore accounts to repay the embezzled funds."

Board Member 2: "And what about the family trust?"

Evelyn: "Thirty percent of the annual trust dividends will be redirected into the Sterling Foundation to support underprivileged children and single mothers in Dallas."

Lily looked up at her mother, a bright smile spreading across her face as she leaned her head against Evelyn's arm.

Lily: "Mommy, does that mean other kids will get help like us?"

Evelyn: "Yes, sweetie. Nobody will ever make them feel small or helpless again."

Board Member 1: "I move to officially confirm Evelyn Sterling as Executive Chairwoman of Sterling Global Logistics."

Board Member 2: "I second the motion."

Board Member 3: "All in favor?"

Every hand around the table rose into the air without hesitation.

Evelyn: "Thank you, gentlemen. Now, let's get to work."
