Assistant 1: "Sir, back off right now."
Richard: "Get your hands off me! Do you know who I am?!"
Evelyn: "You're a man who just lost everything because he couldn't keep his hands off a little girl."
Lily: "Mommy... is Uncle Richard going away?"
Evelyn: "Yes, baby. Uncle Richard is going away for a very long time."
Beatrice: "Evelyn, please... let us talk about this in private. We are family! We can work out an agreement!"
Evelyn: "Family? When Richard pushed my daughter onto this hard floor, did you stand up for her? Did you ask if she was okay? No. You called her a thief and told me to know my place."
Beatrice: "I was just trying to protect our reputation!"
Evelyn: "My daughter IS my reputation. She is Arthur's child, and she deserves more respect than anyone in this room gave her tonight."
Mr. Vance: "Mrs. Sterling, there is one more matter that needs to be addressed immediately."
Evelyn: "The diamond ring?"
Mr. Vance: "Yes. The forty-carat pink diamond display on the head table."
Richard's eyes darted nervously toward the side exit. He subtly reached toward his coat pocket, his hand twitching.
Richard: "The ring has nothing to do with this! It belongs to the family estate!"
Evelyn: "Lily didn't reach for that ring to steal it, Richard. She reached for it because she saw you put a fake glass replica into the velvet box ten minutes before the gala started."
A loud gasp erupted from the surrounding board members and guests. Beatrice turned to her son, her mouth hanging open in complete shock.
Beatrice: "Richard... what is she talking about? Where is the heirloom ring?"
Richard: "She's lying! She's making up stories to ruin me!"
Lily: "I saw him, Grandma! He took the real ring out of the blue box and put it in his gray jacket pocket! Then he put a shiny shiny glass one back!"
Evelyn: "That's why you pushed her, isn't it? She saw you stealing twelve million dollars worth of estate jewelry right under your mother's nose!"
Richard: "Shut up! Shut up, both of you!"
Mr. Vance: "Detective Miller, you can come in now."
From the back of the hall, two uniformed Dallas police officers and a plainclothes detective walked briskly down the central aisle toward the family circle.
Detective Miller: "Richard Sterling?"
Richard: "What is the meaning of this?!"
Detective Miller: "We have a search warrant based on video surveillance feed provided by the estate security team three hours ago. Sir, keep your hands where we can see them."
Beatrice: "Officer, there must be a mistake! My son wouldn't steal from our own family!"
Detective Miller: "Ma'am, please step back. Officer, check his left inner jacket pocket."
The uniformed officer stepped up to Richard, reaching into his gray suit jacket despite Richard's desperate wrestling.
