Vanessa stepped out of the control room into the dim corridor.
Rachel was standing near the top of the staircase holding a glass.
She looked surprised to see Vanessa still wandering around the house.
Rachel: I thought David told you to pack your bags and leave.
Vanessa walked toward her with steady steps and a firm expression.
Vanessa: I am leaving, but not before David knows the truth.
Rachel laughed softly and took a small sip from her water glass.
Rachel: Nobody will ever believe anything you have to say here.
Rachel: David trusts me completely because I am his wedded wife.
Vanessa stood three feet away and crossed her arms tightly.
Vanessa: I saw the security footage from the upper hallway camera.
Rachel's smile vanished instantly as her face went completely pale.
Rachel: What footage are you talking about?
Vanessa: You placed that toy on the top step on purpose.
Vanessa: You put your own child in danger just to frame me.
Rachel set her glass down on the side table with a bang.
Rachel: You have no right to look at those private files!
Vanessa: I have every right to protect my name and reputation.
Rachel moved closer and reached out her hand aggressively.
Rachel: Give me whatever drive you just downloaded right now!
Vanessa stepped back gracefully and kept her hand over her pocket.
Vanessa: I will give it to David when he returns home.
The front door downstairs swung open with a heavy metallic thud.
David walked into the lower foyer carrying Leo in his arms.
The toddler was fast asleep under a soft blue wool blanket.
David looked up at the two women standing near the landing.
David: Why are you two still up arguing at this hour?
