Elena held the crying infant firmly against her shoulder while backing toward the hall.
Victoria blocked the top of the stairs, her arms crossed over her chest.
Victoria: Who do you think Arthur will believe, a poor maid or his wife?
Elena: He will believe the truth when he sees this baby trembling.
Victoria: I will tell him you tried to steal the child yourself!
Elena knew that Victoria was dangerous, manipulative, and very clever.
The wealthy woman had spent months convincing Arthur that she loved little Leo.
She posed for glossy magazine covers holding the baby with a fake smile.
In reality, she never even changed his diapers or fed his milk bottles.
Elena stepped carefully toward the wide landing, guarding the baby with her body.
Elena: You only married him for his real estate empire and bank account.
Victoria: Of course I did, and I will not let a maid ruin it!
Victoria snatched her heavy gold handbag off the nearby glass side table.
She purposely knocked over a tall porcelain vase, smashing it onto the floor.
The loud crash echoed through the vast hollow walls of the high foyer.
Victoria then grabbed her own silk blouse and tore the front collar wide open.
She messied her styled hair and began to scream loudly for help.
Victoria: Help! Someone call the security guards right now!
Elena watched in total horror as Victoria staged a fake struggle in seconds.
The front double doors of the mansion suddenly burst open with great force.
Arthur Sterling walked into the foyer, holding a dark leather briefcase.
He stopped dead in his tracks when he heard the wild shouting above.
Arthur: What on earth is going on up there?!
Victoria instantly threw herself onto the top step, sobbing hysterically.
Victoria: Oh Arthur, thank goodness you came back home early!
Arthur: Victoria! Why are you crying on the floor?
Victoria: Elena tried to push me and snatch little Leo away!
Arthur gasped in absolute shock and rushed quickly up the marble stairs.
Elena stood her ground, clutching the crying baby close to her heart.
Elena: That is a complete lie, Mr. Sterling!
Arthur: Elena, hand my son over to me right now!
Elena: Sir, please listen to me before you make a terrible mistake!
Arthur took the fussy baby gently into his arms and checked his face.
He saw that the infant was safe, warm, and entirely unharmed.
Then he turned to his weeping wife, who was pointing at Elena furiously.
Victoria: Fire her immediately and call the local police department!
Victoria: She was demanding money from our family trust fund!
Elena: I never asked for a single dime of your money!
Arthur: Silence, both of you! I need to understand what happened here!
Elena: Check the balcony door, sir! She left him right on the edge!
Arthur looked toward the open terrace doors where the cold wind blew in.
His face grew pale as he noticed the baby blanket near the ledge.
Arthur: Why were those heavy terrace doors left wide open today?
Victoria: Elena opened them to try and escape with our son!
Elena shook her head firmly, her eyes filling with hot, angry tears.
Elena: I saved his life, sir! She was going to let him fall!
