David held his phone up while the call began to ring.
Victoria quickly reached down and set Sarah's phone on the desk.
Victoria: Fine, take the phone and leave this property right now.
David: Nobody is leaving until we understand what happened here.
Sarah walked slowly toward David and stood near his side.
She reached down and picked up her phone from the desk surface.
Her hands were still shaking from the loud verbal argument.
Sarah: She threatened to take full custody of my daughter Emily.
David: She has zero legal right to take your child away.
Victoria stepped forward with a cruel smile on her lips.
Victoria: My late husband left this entire estate in my care.
Sarah: He left the trust fund for Emily's future education costs.
David: Show me the legal paperwork from the estate lawyer then.
Victoria turned around and picked up a black leather folder.
She opened the folder and flipped through several thick white pages.
Victoria: The house belonged to my husband before he passed away.
Sarah: My father wanted me to live here with my daughter forever.
David looked at the papers inside the black leather binder carefully.
He noticed that the last page was missing a legal signature stamp.
David: This document was never properly signed by the estate executor.
Victoria's eyes narrowed as she snatched the binder back quickly.
Victoria: That is just a draft copy from the city law office.
David: It proves you have been lying to Sarah for months.
Little Emily walked into the room with her single white shoe.
She held her small shoe in her left hand very tightly.
She ran over to Sarah and wrapped her arms around her leg.
Emily: Mommy, is the mean lady going away now?
Sarah knelt down on the floor and hugged her little girl tightly.
Sarah: Yes sweetie, everything is going to be alright now.
David looked at Victoria with a stern and cold expression.
David: You tried to force a signed eviction on a family member.
Victoria: I am saving this property from financial ruin and foreclosure.
David: That is not your decision to make alone without court review.
Victoria walked toward the large glass window near the hallway exit.
She looked out at the sunny driveway with an angry frown.
Victoria: My lawyer will contact you both before the end of today.
David: We welcome the phone call from your official legal team.
David turned his attention back to Sarah and young Emily.
He saw how exhausted and stressed both of them looked today.
David: Did she touch you or hurt you physically earlier?
Sarah: She grabbed my arms and tried to pull the papers away.
David: We need to take photos of those bruises for legal proof.
Emily looked up at David with a very hopeful face.
Emily: Thank you for stopping the loud yelling, mister.
David smiled down at the little girl and knelt near her level.
David: You were a very brave girl to run and find me.
Emily: I saw your black coat through the big glass window.
David reached down and helped her put on her white shoe.
The small leather shoe fit snugly on her right foot now.
Sarah let out a deep breath of relief and wiped her eyes.
Sarah: I did not know who to turn to when she started shouting.
David: You can always count on true friends when trouble comes.
Victoria stood near the doorway with her arms crossed tightly.
She saw that her attempt to force a signature had failed completely.
The room felt much calmer now that the truth was showing.
David stood up and faced the older stepmother once again.
David: We are going downstairs to collect their personal belongings now.
Victoria: You cannot remove any items from this main house area.
David: Watch me help them pack their essential clothes right now.
