David unfolded the heavy paper with steady hands inside the room.
The black ink script was clearly written by his late stepmother years ago.
He began reading the words written on the legal document silently.

Meredith held little Lily near the grand doorway of the ballroom.

David walked over to the side desk where a phone rested.
He dialed the family lawyer's office to confirm the document details.
The attorney answered the call on the second ring immediately.
