Mark tapped his smartphone screen to pull up the instant cloud playback of the security recording from two minutes prior.
The high-definition video clearly showed Victoria cornering Lily near the stairs and pulling her hair without any provocation whatsoever.
It showed the cruel look on Victoria's face as she tried to force the child to hand over a brown folder.
Mark felt a cold rage settle in his heart as he watched the clear proof of his wife's terrible cruelty.
"Why did you care so much about some papers, Victoria?" Mark asked as he held Lily close to his side.
Victoria slowly stood up from the floor, her luxury purple blouse wrinkled and her confidence completely shattered in seconds.
"Those are private personal files from before we got married," Victoria stammered, stepping back toward the wooden doorway.
"You were trying to secretly transfer funds from Lily's mother's trust fund account!" Mark realized with sudden horrific clarity.
When Lily's biological mother passed away, she left a massive life insurance settlement earmarked specifically for her daughter's future college fund.
Mark had established the trust fund with strict legal protections, but Victoria had been searching for legal loopholes to access it.
"I deserved a share of that estate for raising your daughter!" Victoria spat out, dropping her fake friendly mask entirely.
