A Cold and Cruel Discovery

A Father Returns Home Just in Time to Save His Daughter

The scene inside the room made Daniel stop in utter horror.

Rachel was standing over little Lily near the back doorway.

She was holding a large packed suitcase in her right hand.

Rachel was shouting angrily while pulling Lily toward the exit door.

Lily was crying on the floor, holding her tiny knees close.

Her face was red and tears streamed down her cheeks nonstop.

Daniel: Rachel, get your hands off her right now!

Daniel screamed the words with pure fury in his loud voice.

Rachel jumped back in deep shock at the sudden loud shout.

She had not expected Daniel to come back until late evening.

Rachel: Daniel! You were not supposed to be home yet!

She tried to smile, but her face turned pale instantly.

Daniel rushed across the room and pushed Rachel away quickly.

He knelt down on the wooden floor beside his small daughter.

Lily wrapped her small arms tightly around her father's neck.

Lily: Daddy! Please don't leave me again with her!

She sobbed uncontrollably into the front of his woolen coat.

Daniel looked closely at his daughter's tear-stained face.

He saw faint red mark tracks on her tiny frail arms.

Anger rushed through his veins like a wild sudden fire.

He wiped her warm tears away using his thumb gently.

Daniel: You are safe now, my sweet little baby girl.

He wrapped his large arms around her small shivering frame.

Rachel stood near the table, adjusting her bright blue blouse.

She tried to act calm and pulled her shoulders back high.

Rachel: She was misbehaving all morning, Daniel, so I acted.

Rachel: I was just taking her to a strict boarding school.

Daniel stood up slowly and turned around to face his wife.

His eyes were filled with absolute disgust and sharp rage.

Daniel: You were going to send my daughter away secretly?

Rachel: It is for her own good and our marriage quality!

Daniel: You lied to me about everything since the beginning!
