Mark sat alone in his quiet study upstairs, resting his heavy head in his hands.
The silence inside the massive house felt strange, dark, and deeply uncomfortable to him.
Little Lily was sleeping peacefully in her crib after eating her warm afternoon meal.
Mark opened his desk drawer to grab his private journal, but noticed the safe door open.
His heart dropped into his stomach as he saw his valuable documents completely missing.
Suddenly, the heavy wooden door of the study swung wide open with a loud bang.
Sarah stood in the doorway, wearing her dark street coat and holding a heavy bag.
Mark: Sarah? What are you doing with my private wall safe open like that?
Sarah: I am taking what I truly deserve after working for you for three years!
Mark: Put that bag down right now before I call the authorities on you!
Sarah pulled a heavy brass paperweight from her pocket, her eyes cold and mean.
Sarah: You were always so foolish, Mark, trusting everyone who smiled at your face!
Before Sarah could take another step forward, loud police sirens blared down the driveway.
Red and blue emergency lights flashed brightly through the tall windows of the grand study.
Elena stepped into the room, followed closely by two armed police officers in uniform.
Elena: Drop the bag and step away from my husband right now, Sarah!
Sarah: How dare you come back here after what you did to his daughter!
Officer: Nobody move! Put your hands in the air where we can see them!
Elena walked over to Mark and handed him her smartphone with the video playing.
Elena: Watch this video right now, Mark, and see who really put Lily in danger.
Mark stared at the bright screen as the recorded footage revealed Sarah's wicked plan.
He saw the maid intentionally trip his wife and throw the glass vase down below.
A terrible realization washed over Mark as deep shame flooded his entire heart and mind.
Mark: Oh my God... Elena, I am so deeply sorry for what I said!
Sarah: That video is a fake! She made that clip using a computer program!
Officer: Save it for the judge, lady. You are under arrest for endangerment and grand theft.
