Mark sat on the marble floor and pulled both of his small twin children tight against his chest.
He pressed his face into Toby's hair and cried heavy tears of pure emotional relief and overwhelming love.
Toby held onto Mark's neck tightly, his small fingers clutching his father's shirt with all his tiny strength.
Toby: Daddy, do not put me back in dark.
Mark: Never again! I swear to God, never again!
Sarah stood a few feet away, her hands pressed tightly against her stomach as she wept in silence.
Mark looked up from his children and fixed his red furious eyes straight upon his crying wife standing there.
Mark: Get out of my sight right now, Sarah.
Sarah: Mark, please let me explain everything to you!
Mark: You kept my boy in a dark wall!
Sarah: I did it to keep him safe from her!
Mark stood up slowly while keeping a firm protective arm wrapped gently around little Toby's waist.
Mark: Safe from who? What are you talking about?
Sarah lowered her head and wiped the heavy wet tears streaming endlessly down her pale cold cheeks.
Sarah: From your mother... from the trust fund agreement!
Mark stared at her in complete shock as her strange words registered in his mind with deep confusion.
His wealthy mother Evelyn had passed away eighteen months ago, leaving a massive estate worth millions of dollars.
The family trust fund lawyer had managed the entire inheritance distribution for the family members after her death.
Mark: What does my mother have to do with Toby?
Sarah: She said Toby was not your biological son!
Mark felt a cold wave of horror wash over his body as he listened to Sarah's broken trembling voice.
Mark: That is impossible! He is my twin son!
Sarah: She forced me to do a secret test!
Sarah reached into her silk robe pocket and pulled out a folded white paper with shaking pale fingers.
She held the document out toward Mark with tears continuing to spill over her bloodshot swollen eyes.
Sarah: She threatened to take Lilly away from us!
Mark reached out with his right hand and snatched the paper roughly from Sarah's trembling cold fingers.
He opened the white folded paper and began reading the dark printed text written across the heavy page.
The letter was signed by his late mother's high-priced estate lawyer from the central city law firm office.
It stated that if two living heirs existed, the entire trust fund would be controlled by an outside trustee.
But if only one child remained, the entire multi-million dollar estate would pass directly to Sarah and Mark.
Mark: You hid our son for money?!
Sarah: No! She threatened to report me to police!
Sarah: She claimed I was an unfit mother, Mark!
Mark looked down at the document and then at his pale frightened young boy standing beside his sister.
Toby was holding his sister's hand while looking nervously between his arguing parents in the bright hallway.
Mark: You chose money and fear over our child!
Sarah: I was terrified she would take them both!
