Mark raised the heavy steel hammer high into the bright morning sunlight filling the long wide hallway corridor.
He swung the tool downward with all his physical strength straight into the edge of the metal frame.
A loud sound echoed through the house as the white drywall fractured and split into small dry pieces.
Dust flew everywhere into the air, swirling through the bright golden light beams shining inside the home.
Mark swung the heavy tool again and again, smashing the thick drywall into broken rough pieces around vent.
Mark: Hold on, buddy! Daddy is coming!
Sarah walked out from the nearby master bedroom at the far end of the long clean hallway.
She wore a blue silk robe and stopped instantly when she saw her husband smashing the wall frame.
Her face turned completely pale like white paper as she realized what Mark was doing near the floor.
Sarah: Mark! Stop doing that right now!
Mark did not stop his heavy swings, smashing away large chunks of drywall with incredible intense fury.
A hole opened wide in the wall frame, exposing the dark empty inner space inside the house wall.
Sarah rushed forward quickly across the polished floor, placing her shaking hands over her open pale mouth.
Mark: You lied to me for two whole years!
Sarah: Mark, please put that hammer down right now!
Mark dropped the heavy hammer onto the smooth floor tiles where it landed with a sharp metallic clatter.
He turned around slowly and stood up straight, staring at his wife with pure rage in his eyes.
Mark: You told me my son died in hospital!
Sarah: I had to protect our family, Mark!
Mark stepped closer to Sarah, his face burning red with intense emotional pain and utter disbelief at her.
He pointed his finger directly at her pale trembling face as tears flowed down his cheeks in anger.
Mark: You hid my son right here in this house!
Sarah: You do not know the full story, Mark!
Mark: How could any mother do something so cruel?
Sarah backed away against the opposite wall, her body trembling with overwhelming fear as she began to cry.
Sarah: I was scared... I was so afraid!
Mark turned his back on her and dropped to his knees right in front of the broken hole.
He leaned his head down low and peered into the warm dark space hidden between the wooden studs.
Inside the dusty interior, a tiny little boy sat curled up tightly on an old soft folded blanket.
His small face was smudged with dry grey dust, and his dark eyes blinked against the bright light.
In his small left arm, the little boy held a worn brown teddy bear tightly against his chest.
Mark recognized that exact teddy bear because he had bought a pair for his newborn twins long ago.
Mark: Toby... oh my sweet baby boy...
The little boy gasped softly in surprise and shrank back slightly toward the shadow behind the wooden beam.
Toby: Are you... my real Daddy?
Mark wept openly as the sound of his child's tiny fragile voice broke his heart into a thousand pieces.
Mark: Yes, Toby! I am your Daddy, son!
He reached his broad arms deep into the wide dusty cavity toward his frightened little missing boy.
Toby looked into Mark's warm crying eyes and slowly let go of his fear inside the tiny dark room.
He crawled forward slowly on his knees until his tiny dirty hands reached Mark's strong waiting hands.
Mark pulled the small boy out gently from the tight space into the soft warm morning daylight streaming in.
Toby coughed softly as the clean fresh home air filled his tiny lungs for the very first time.
Lilly ran forward happily and wrapped her tiny pink arms tightly around her brother's dusty waist and legs.
Lilly: See, Daddy? I told you he was here!
