The heavy balcony doors burst open, and Daniel rushed out into the daylight with a frantic look on his face. He saw his wife hanging over the edge and his mother screaming at the maid to release the rope support. Clara looked up at Daniel with desperation in her eyes, begging him with her gaze to take over the rope. She expected the young husband to rush forward and pull his pregnant wife to safety on the balcony floor. But as Daniel took a step closer, his face suddenly changed from shock to a cold, calm, calculated stare.

The words echoed across the empty patio like a terrible curse, making Clara gasp in absolute horror and disbelief. Daniel was not trying to save his wife; he was standing by, letting his mother dictate this horrible act. Clara realized in a single terrifying moment that Daniel and Evelyn had planned to eliminate Sarah all along.
