Hannah held the thick document tightly in her hand. Her body was trembling with anger, but her voice was steady and strong. She walked right up to Mark and slapped the open folder against his chest so he could see the stamp of the official court registry.
Hannah: Show her the document, Mark! Show your mother who paid every single dollar for this estate!
Margarethe: What is that trash? Mark bought this property with his bonus money from the firm!
Hannah: Your son makes eighty thousand dollars a year! The property taxes on this mansion alone are sixty thousand a year!
Margarethe: You shut your mouth! Mark, tell this ungrateful girl to pack her bags and leave!
Mark stood frozen in the center of the room. He could not look his mother in the eye anymore. The truth was out in the open, and there was no way to hide it. Hannah opened the deed and held it directly in front of Margarethe's face, pointing at the bold signature at the bottom of the page.
Hannah: Look at the name! It says Hannah Miller! Not Mark, not you, but me!
Margarethe: This is a fake paper! You printed this off the internet to humiliate me!
Hannah: My father left this land to me in his will! I own the house, the cars, and the bank accounts!
Margarethe stared at the official gold seal on the county paper. Her eyes grew wide as she finally realized the truth. The fancy lifestyle she had been showing off on social media was built on a complete lie. She had been living in the home of the woman she treated like dirt every morning. But instead of apologizing, Margarethe's face twisted with pure hatred and rage.
She stepped forward, raising her hand to snatch the paper out of Hannah's fingers. She wanted to rip the legal papers into tiny pieces as if that would change the law. But Hannah did not step back this time. She held her ground, ready to defend herself and her home from this toxic woman who had pushed her too far.
