Arthur kept his hand steady against his daughter's frail back.
He watched as the color slowly returned to her pale cheeks.
Emily: Thank you, Daddy... I was so scared just now.
Arthur: You are safe now, sweetheart, nobody will ever hurt you.
Arthur stood up slowly and turned his full focus toward Victoria.
Victoria stepped back against the edge of the long dining table.
Victoria: Arthur, please calm down so we can talk about this.
Arthur: You withheld life-saving medicine from a sick young girl!
Victoria: I was only trying to teach her better personal habits!
Arthur: You deliberately put my daughter's health in serious physical danger!
Arthur stepped forward and pointed his finger directly at Victoria's face.
His voice echoed off the high decorative ceilings of the foyer.
Arthur: Pack your personal belongings and leave this house right now!
Victoria: You cannot kick me out over a tiny misunderstanding, Arthur!
Arthur: This is not a misunderstanding, this is absolute cruelty!
Victoria's face turned pale as she realized Arthur was completely serious.
She reached out to touch his arm, but he pulled away.
Arthur: Do not touch me after what you did to Emily today!
Victoria: I gave her everything she wanted since we got married!
Emily: That is not true, Dad, she was always mean to me.
Arthur looked down at his daughter with deep sadness in his eyes.
He felt terrible for not noticing Victoria's true behavior much earlier.
He pulled his cellular phone out of his dark jacket pocket.
He dialed three digits with quick and firm thumb presses.
Victoria: Who are you calling on the phone right now, Arthur?
Arthur: I am calling the police department to report your actions.
Victoria gasped loudly and backed away toward the front hallway.
She realized her luxurious lifestyle was slipping away in seconds.
