The Party At The Grand Estate

A Cruel Rich Groom Shoved My Daughter At Our Wedding

The afternoon sun spilled through the massive arched windows of the grand estate, lighting up the hardwood oak floors and white crown molding. Sarah adjusted the straps of her dark velvet dress and looked down at her six-year-old daughter, Lily, who was wearing her favorite purple dress. They were standing in the hallway of the wealthy Vance family mansion, where dozens of rich guests were drinking champagne and talking about business. Sarah had come here today with a heavy heart, hoping that her engagement to Mark Vance would finally give her little girl a stable family and a bright future.

Sarah: Stay close to me, honey. Remember to be on your best behavior today.

Lily: I will, Mommy. Is Mr. Mark going to be my new daddy today?

Sarah: We are going to talk about that with his mother, Eleanor. Just hold my hand.

Mark Vance walked out of the main ballroom wearing a tailored grey suit, holding a crystal glass in his hand. His mother, Eleanor Vance, followed right behind him in a lavish off-shoulder gown with short white hair styled perfectly. Eleanor looked at Sarah and Lily with cold, judging eyes that immediately made Sarah feel uncomfortable in the large house.

Mark: You finally made it, Sarah. My mother was starting to think you were not coming to the family announcement.

Sarah: We were stuck in traffic, Mark. Lily was very excited to see the house.

Eleanor: Well, make sure she does not touch any of the antique furniture. Everything in this hallway costs more than your apartment.

Sarah: She is just a child, Eleanor. She knows not to touch things that are not hers.

Mark: It does not matter. My family's estate is hosting important people today, including my corporate divorce lawyer and several city council members. We need everything to look completely perfect for the press photos later.

Sarah took a deep breath, trying to stay calm for her daughter's sake. She had met Mark eight months ago after her late husband passed away, leaving behind a small family trust fund for Lily's future college tuition. Mark had seemed charming and attentive at first, promising to protect them both and help manage their family business affairs. But over the last few weeks, as the talk of marriage and legal merged accounts grew stronger, Mark's attitude had become colder and more demanding toward both Sarah and her daughter.

Lily: Mommy, look at the big framed flag on the wall! It looks like the one in my school.

Sarah: Yes, sweetie, that is a very special historical painting. Just look with your eyes, okay?

Eleanor: Keep her voice down, Sarah. The mayor is standing in the adjacent room discussing the family foundation trust fund.

Mark: Come into the study, Sarah. We need to review the prenuptial agreement and the custody paperwork before the main toast begins.

Sarah: Why do we need to talk about custody paperwork right now, Mark?

Mark: Because my mother wants to make sure my family's fortune and inheritance rights are fully protected before we sign anything official.

Sarah felt a sudden chill run down her spine as Mark mentioned the legal paperwork again. Something felt wrong about how eager Mark and Eleanor were to control her financial assets and legal standing. But before she could ask another question, Mark turned around angrily toward little Lily, who had wandered two steps toward a delicate glass display case in the hallway.
