A CEO Found His Daughter Scrubbing Floors In His Million Dollar Mansion

The scrubbing brush made a sharp, rhythmic rasp against the cold marble floor of the Dallas estate. Eighteen-year-old Lily wiped a stray tear from her cheek, leaving behind a streak of gray dust. Her knees throbbed against the polished white stone under the massive brass chandelier. Every bone in her body burned from hours of physical labor, but the physical pain was nothing compared to the fear that kept her moving.

Evelyn: You missed a spot right near the grand entrance, Lily. I want this entire foyer spotless before the dinner guests arrive tonight.

Lily: I’m scrubbing as fast as I can, Mrs. Vance. My hands are completely raw.

Evelyn: Fast isn't good enough. Your father left you in my care while he was in New York, and as long as you live under my roof, you will earn your keep.

Lily: This isn't what my dad wanted! He thinks I’m attending my college prep classes!

Evelyn: Your dad is three thousand miles away securing a multi-million dollar business merger. He doesn't need to be bothered by a ungrateful stepdaughter crying about chores.

Lily bit her lower lip, holding back a fresh wave of tears as she dipped the coarse wooden brush back into the bucket of icy soapy water. For three weeks, ever since her father left for an extended business trip, her stepmother had transformed her life into a living nightmare. Her phone had been confiscated, her bank account locked, and she was forced to work from dawn until dusk doing hard manual labor around the sprawling suburban mansion.

Suddenly, the heavy mahogany front doors swung wide open, flooding the white marble foyer with bright afternoon sunlight.

Lily: Papa?

Heavy leather dress shoes echoed sharply off the pristine walls. Standing in the doorway, holding a black leather briefcase, was Richard Vance. He stopped dead in his tracks, his eyes locking onto his daughter kneeling in a maid's uniform beside a bucket of dirty water.

Richard: What in God's name is happening here?

Evelyn: Richard? You... you came back to New York early...

The heavy briefcase slipped from Richard’s hand, crashing onto the marble floor with a loud thud that echoed through the vast open house. The look of utter confusion on his face instantly hardened into terrifying rage.
