The Return Home Early

A CEO Comes Home Early and Finds His Hidden Secret

David parked his black luxury sedan in the wide driveway of his modern suburban home.

He grabbed his briefcase from the passenger seat and walked up the front steps.

The afternoon sun reflected brightly off the high glass windows of the giant house.

David had left his executive office early to surprise his wife with good news.

He unlocked the heavy wooden front doors and pushed them open with a smile.

The loud clatter of the heavy doors echoed through the high white entryway.

David stopped immediately as a strange sound reached his ears from the foyer.

He heard a harsh voice shouting insults across the expensive marble floor.

David stepped forward quietly onto the polished white surface of the grand hallway.

He saw his wife Jessica standing near the grand staircase in a navy dress.

She was holding a heavy mop and pointing angrily at the cold floor.

On the floor sat David's elderly mother, Evelyn, wearing a thin beige sweater.

Evelyn was scrubbing the hard marble floor while crying softly to herself.

Her pale hands were trembling from the severe cold and painful strain.

"Faster! Clean it properly right now!" Jessica yelled at the poor older woman.

David froze in pure shock as he watched the scene unfold before him.

His leather briefcase slipped out of his hand and hit the floor hard.

The loud thud of the bag made Jessica spin around in sudden terror.

Her face lost all its color as she recognized her husband standing there.

"Oh! You are home early today, dear," Jessica said with a nervous smile.

She quickly dropped the heavy mop onto the wet marble near Evelyn's knees.

David stared at his wife with eyes full of utter horror and anger.

Evelyn looked up at her son with tears streaming down her pale cheeks.

"Please... my hands hurt so much..." Evelyn sobbed softly on the wet floor.

David felt a deep wave of uncontrolled rage rise inside his chest instantly.

He stepped past the fallen briefcase and marched directly toward his wife.

His jaw was clenched tight as he glared down at the cruel woman.

"What are you doing to my mother?" David shouted in a deep voice.

Jessica took a small step backward toward the large American flag display.

"I was just asking her to help with light chores!" Jessica lied quickly.

"She is seventy years old and recovering from surgery!" David yelled loudly.

David grabbed Jessica's arm and pulled her away from his crying mother.

"Get out of her way right now!" he screamed, pointing at the door.

Jessica cowered in panic under the strong glare of her furious husband.

David dropped to his knees right away to comfort his weeping mother.

He wrapped his arms around Evelyn and held her fragile body tight.

"Don't you ever touch my mother again!" David shouted across the room.

Jessica backed away into the living room without saying another word today.
