David rushed down the long polished hallway of his estate with quick steps.
He heard loud shouting coming from the quiet nursery at the end of the hall.
His heart beat fast as he pushed open the large white wooden doors.
Inside the bright nursery, his wife Clara stood crying beside the crib.
Her gold dress was torn at the shoulder and her hair was messy.
She held her hand up to her mouth and pointed across the room.
His mother Eleanor stood near the window with a frozen look on her face.
Eleanor wore her simple grey business suit and held a small velvet box.
David looked between his weeping wife and his silent mother in complete confusion.
Clara: David, thank God you are finally home!
David: What happened in here, Clara?
Clara: She tried to hurt our baby!
Eleanor: That is not true at all, David!
Clara: She shoved me hard against the wall when I stopped her!
David felt a surge of deep anger rush through his entire chest.
He stepped quickly between the two women to protect his wife and child.
