Toby hit the deep water with a massive splash that echoed loudly against the marble pillars of the estate mansion. Bubbles rose rapidly to the surface as the little boy disappeared beneath the blue water. Clara screamed at the top of her lungs, her voice cracking with pure terror as she watched her child sink. She immediately sprinted toward the edge of the pool, ready to jump in with her full silk wedding dress. But before her feet could leave the dry tile, two heavy hands grabbed her firmly from behind and yanked her back.
Richard held her tightly in a fierce grip, locking her arms behind her back near a large framed American flag decor hanging on the outdoor patio. Clara kicked and thrashed, tears streaming down her face, but Richard did not budge an inch. His expression remained completely flat, devoid of any human empathy or worry.
Clara: Let me go! My son cannot swim! Let me save him!
Richard: Every dog knows how to swim. Leave him alone.
Clara: He is drowning! Are you insane? Somebody help my baby!
Richard: Stop making a public scene and embarrassing me in front of my business partners.
Clara: I do not care about your money or your party! Release me right now!
The helpless mother fought with every ounce of strength in her body, but Richard's heavy weight kept her pinned against the stone wall. Beneath the crystal clear water, Toby flailed his arms wildly, his eyes wide with absolute panic as his lungs burned for air. He could see the bright sky above, but he could not reach it. The wealthy crowd stood completely frozen, too shocked by Richard's cold cruelty to take immediate action. They watched in absolute horror as the young boy slowly stopped moving under the water.
Clara felt her heart shattering into a thousand pieces as she watched her helpless son struggle. She realized in that terrible moment that Richard had planned to intimidate her all along, using her child's life as a cruel display of absolute dominance. He wanted to break her spirit so she would never question his power or his money during their marriage.
Clara: You are a monster! You are killing my boy!
Richard: You will learn your place in this house, Clara.
Clara: I will kill you if anything happens to him!
Richard: You have nothing, Clara. Nobody will ever take your side against me.
Just as Toby began to sink toward the bottom of the deep end, a loud shout shattered the horrified silence of the yard. Sarah, Clara's younger sister who had been standing near the refreshment table, kicked off her expensive high heels and ran at full speed toward the pool. She did not hesitate for even a single second as she threw herself into the deep water with a thunderous splash.
