Megan rushed across the plush carpet and grabbed Lily's upper arm tightly.
Megan: What did you hear, you little spy?
Lily: Let go of me! You're hurting my arm!
Megan reached aggressively for the smartphone in Lily's small hands.
Megan: Give me that device right now!
Lily: No! It's mine!
Megan yanked the phone away hard, almost knocking Lily onto the carpeted floor.
Lily stumbled back against a chair, her eyes filling with instant tears.
Megan: You have no right to pry into adult business!
Megan quickly tried to enter the passcode to access the settings on the device.
She wanted to ensure no voice memo app had been running while she talked.
Lily wiped her nose and stood her ground near the vanity table.
Lily: My mom said bad people always tell on themselves!
Megan: Keep your mouth shut about your mother!
Megan grabbed Lily's shoulders and shoved her roughly toward the bathroom door.
Megan: You stay in there until the ceremony is finished!
Lily slipped past Megan's grip and reached for her mother's phone on the glass desk.
She managed to scoop it off the surface just as Megan turned back around.
Megan: Drop that right now, Lily!
The heavy oak doors of the bridal suite suddenly burst open with a loud thud.
Mark stood in the doorway, his tie slightly undone and his forehead wrinkled in concern.
He had come to check why his daughter was taking so long in the suite.
He took in the scene of Megan towering over a crying Lily.
Mark: What on earth is happening in here?
Megan: Mark! Thank goodness you are here!
Megan shifted her posture instantly, softening her face into a look of deep distress.
Megan: She sneaked into my room and was trying to hide my expensive jewelry!
Lily: That's a lie, Dad! She tried to steal Mom's phone!
Mark: Calm down, both of you.
Mark stepped into the center of the room and placed a firm hand on Lily's shoulder.
He looked directly into Megan's eyes with a cool, searching gaze.
Mark: Why would Lily care about your jewelry five minutes before the wedding?
Megan: She has been acting out all morning because she doesn't want us to marry!
Megan: She is being unreasonable and destructive, Mark!
Lily unlocked the screen on her mother's phone with her thumb.
Lily: Look at the screen recording, Dad!
