The Cold Balcony Edge

When The Cruel Stepmother Dropped The Baby Into Pool

Brenda walked out onto the high, windy second-floor balcony balcony.

The bright Texas sun beamed down on the clear blue water below.

A beautiful framed American flag artwork hung near the balcony door.

Brenda held the tiny swaddled baby right over the tall railing.

Her hands were steady as she looked down at the pool.

"An adopted brat just doesn't deserve to live in this family!" Brenda sneered.

Sarah reached the glass doors just in time to hear those words.

Her heart sank directly into the bottom of her heavy chest.

Brenda loosened her cold grip and let the baby fall downward.

The tiny swaddled bundle plummeted rapidly through the open warm air.

Sarah let out a loud gasp and pushed open the doors.

The baby hit the deep blue water with a heavy splash.

Sarah did not hesitate for even a single short second today.

She ran across the smooth stone patio with maximum speed now.

She dove headfirst into the cold swimming pool without any fear.

The cool water enveloped Sarah as she kicked her legs hard.

She swam swiftly underwater toward the small sinking baby bundle.

Muffled bubbles rose all around her as she reached out far.

Sarah wrapped her strong arms securely around the helpless infant baby.

She kicked hard against the bottom pool floor to rise upward.

Sarah surfaced from the water with a loud, heavy splash beat.

She lifted the little baby safely up above the blue surface.

She checked Lily's tiny face with an urgent, worried expression.

The baby coughed and let out a tiny, safe crying sound.

Sarah stood waist-deep in the cold water, holding Lily tight.

"I got you, you're safe!" Sarah shouted with great relief.

She held the baby close to her warm, beating heart.

Up on the upper balcony, Brenda stared down in horror.

She had not expected the quiet maid to jump right in.

Suddenly, the heavy patio glass double doors burst wide open.

David had forgotten his wallet and rushed back inside the yard.

He stopped dead in his tracks, staring at the wet scene.

Sarah turned toward him and pointed directly up at Brenda high.

"She threw your daughter from the balcony! She tried to destroy her!" Sarah yelled.
