The Lawyer Arrives

When My Wealthy Stepmother Pushed Me Into The Pool

Within thirty minutes, a black luxury sedan pulled up the long concrete driveway of the suburban estate. David Miller, Arthur's long-time divorce lawyer and family attorney, stepped out holding a black leather briefcase. He walked fast up the front brick steps, his face solemn and professional as Arthur opened the front door to let him inside.

David: Arthur, you sounded very urgent on the phone. What happened here?

Arthur: Brenda tried to hurt Victoria today, David. And she has been stealing from the trust.

David: Is Victoria alright? Does she need medical attention?

Victoria: My hand is bruised, Mr. Miller, but I am okay now.

Brenda: This is a coordinated attack on me! They are trying to frame me so I get nothing in a divorce!

David: Mrs. Vance, I strongly advise you to keep quiet until your own lawyer is present.

David walked into the living room and spread his legal papers across the large glass coffee table. He examined the bank transfer records that Victoria had pulled from the computer, comparing them with the original trust fund agreement signed by Victoria's biological mother ten years prior. Brenda stood near the staircase, her fingers twitching with nervous energy as she watched the attorney check every single signature.

David: These transfers are completely unauthorized, Arthur. This is grand larceny and fraud.

Brenda: Arthur gave me permission to manage those accounts!

Arthur: I never gave you permission to touch Victoria's trust fund! Never!

David: Furthermore, the prenuptial agreement you signed five years ago clearly states that any fraudulent activity against the family estate completely voids your right to spousal support or property division.

Brenda: That prenuptial agreement is not valid! I was under stress when I signed it!

David: It was signed in front of three independent witnesses and notarized, Brenda. It is completely legally binding.

Victoria: Show him the transfer emails from yesterday, dad.

Arthur: Look at this, David. She was planning to transfer the house deed to her brother's company next week.

Brenda's face went completely white as David reviewed the transfer order printout. The reality of her situation was finally sinking in. She was not just facing a messy divorce; she was looking at criminal charges that could send her to federal prison for years. The calm, arrogant woman who had stepped on Victoria's hand at the pool was now trembling near the bottom stair.

Brenda: Arthur, please... we can talk about this privately in our bedroom.

Arthur: There is nothing left to talk about privately. My marriage to you is over.

Brenda: Think about our reputation in the neighborhood! What will the neighbors say?

Arthur: I care about my daughter's safety, not the neighbors' gossip.

Victoria: You brought this on yourself, Brenda. You thought we were weak, but we are not.
