Sarah held the envelope tight against her chest while backing up slowly.
Victoria marched up three steps, her green dress swishing against the wood.
Victoria: Hand those fake papers over to me right now!
Sarah: No, these belong to my mother and my father!
Mark rushed toward the base of the grand staircase to stop them.
Mark: Mother, stop doing this and let her explain herself!
Victoria ignored her son voice completely as her rage grew out of control.
She reached out aggressively and pushed Sarah shoulder with heavy force.
Sarah lost her footing on the polished wooden step near the top landing.
Her foot slipped off the narrow edge of the glossy step instantly.
Sarah cried out in terror as she lost her balance completely backwards.
She tumbled violently down the long flight of stairs before Mark could help.
Her back hit the hard wooden steps repeatedly during the scary fall.
Sarah protected her head with both arms as she rolled down backwards.
Mark yelled in horror and tried to catch her at the bottom.
Sarah landed hard on the cold white marble floor with a thud.
The brown purse slid across the slick floor, scattering papers everywhere around.
Silence fell over the massive mansion foyer for a long terrifying moment.
Victoria stood near the top landing, her diamond ring shining bright daylight.
She covered her open mouth with both hands in total shock now.
Her cheeks flushed red as she realized what she had just done.
Mark dropped to his knees right beside Sarah motionless body immediately.
Mark: Look at me! Please stay with me!
Sarah groaned in pain, her face pale against the white floor tile.
Tears welled up in her eyes as she clutched her swollen stomach.
Sarah: My baby, please help my baby, Mark.
Mark: Try to lie still, I am calling an ambulance right now.
Mark pulled his cell phone from his gray jacket pocket with shaking fingers.
He dialed nine one one quickly while holding Sarah cold trembling hand.
Victoria leaned over the top wooden balcony railing, trembling with sudden fear.
She saw the blood beginning to pool near Sarah shoulder on marble.
Victoria: It was a total accident! She tripped on her own!
Mark: Shut up, mother! I saw you push her with my eyes!
Victoria: I barely touched her! She lost her footing on her own!
Mark glared up at his mother with absolute rage in his eyes.
He placed a soft pillow from the foyer couch under Sarah head gently.
Mark: Hang on Sarah, the paramedics are coming right away.
Sarah closed her eyes weakly as the sharp pain washed over her body.
Mark stood up fast, his face dark with intense disappointment and anger.
He stormed toward the staircase, his shoes striking the marble floors hard.
Victoria recoiled in absolute terror as she saw her son charge up stairs.
Victoria: No! Stop! Mark, listen to me please!
Mark reached the top landing in seconds, towering over his mother.
Mark: You have gone too far this time, mother, way too far!
Victoria: I did it to protect your trust fund and future!
Mark: I do not want money bought with someone else blood!
The sound of approaching sirens echoed loudly outside the heavy front door.
