The tall head security officer named Marcus stepped quickly into the open penthouse foyer.
He looked between Claire and the older gray-haired woman standing by the island.
Marcus: Mrs. Bennett, is everything alright up here on the top floor?
Claire: No, Marcus. This woman entered my home while I was away out of state.
Lorraine: I am her mother-in-law and I have legal permission from Daniel Bennett!
Marcus pulled a small digital tablet out from his black tactical vest pocket.
He swiped through the resident directory system looking for updated property ownership records.
Marcus: Ma'am, the property record shows Claire Bennett as the sole registered owner.
Lorraine: That system is outdated because my son signed new papers this week!
Claire: Daniel does not have power of attorney over my personal real estate property.
Lorraine put her wine glass down hard onto the sparkling gray counter top.
She reached inside her robe pocket and pulled out a folded paper copy.
Lorraine: Look at this official document signed by Daniel himself three days ago!
Marcus took the crisp white paper and read the short typed legal text.
Claire stepped closer to inspect the paper over the officer's heavy shoulder.
Her stomach turned cold when she saw her husband's messy blue signature below.
It was a fake quitclaim deed transferring the penthouse to his mother's trust.
Claire: This paper is completely fraudulent and carries no legal authority at all.
Lorraine: You are just bitter because Daniel loves his real family more!
Claire: He forged my signature on this document right next to his own!
Lorraine's face paled slightly as she looked down at the blue ink mark.
She had assumed Daniel had handled all the legal paperwork through real courts.
She did not realize her son had committed a serious federal document crime.
Marcus: I need everyone to stay calm while I call building operations management.
Claire: Please call the police department immediately to report a breaking incident.
Lorraine: You would not dare call the cops on your own family members!
Claire: You are an illegal trespasser standing inside my personal private home.
The front door swung open again with a sudden metallic clicking noise.
Daniel walked inside carrying a leather briefcase and a box of expensive pastries.
He froze completely when he saw his wife, his mother, and security.
His face flushed deep red as the pastry box slipped out of his hand.
Daniel: Claire? You were not supposed to be back until late tomorrow evening!
Claire: Clearly. Otherwise I would have missed your grand handover ceremony party!
Daniel: Mom, why did you unpack your clothes so quickly before I called?
Lorraine: You told me the apartment was completely transferred to my name, Daniel!
Daniel: We were supposed to discuss the transition details together gently tonight!
Claire laughed out loud at the absurdity of her dishonest husband's words.
He had tried to steal her multi-million dollar asset right behind her back.
He wanted to give his mother a luxury life using his wife's money.
Marcus tapped his radio unit to summon police backup officers straight upstairs.
Daniel looked around the room like a trapped animal searching for a door.
The truth was finally coming out in front of everyone present today.
