David pulled out his heavy phone from his pocket while keeping one arm around Maya.
He dialed the local emergency number quickly with steady hands that never shook at all.
David: Send officers to the Vance mansion immediately!
Evelyn hurried down the stairs while trying to pull her red robe around herself properly.
Evelyn: It was a terrible accident, David, she just lost her balance!
Maya: You pushed me on purpose to steal my father's trust fund!
David: I saw everything with my own two eyes, Evelyn.
Evelyn stopped at the bottom step while her face turned completely pale like a sheet.
She knew the mansion had security cameras installed near the upper hallway and balcony areas.
David pointed toward the small black camera lens mounted high on the pristine wall behind them.
David: Every single second was recorded on the high-definition security system drive.
Evelyn gasped as she realized her greedy plot was completely caught on video footage.
She had planned to claim the entire fifty million dollar estate as the sole survivor.
Her hands began to tremble as she looked for an open exit near the hallway.
David stepped directly between Evelyn and the double front doors to block her path.
David: You are not going anywhere until the police arrive here.
Maya stood up slowly while leaning against the sturdy wall for balance and support.
She looked at her stepmother with deep hurt and anger in her blue eyes.
Maya: My father trusted you with his heart and his life.
Evelyn: He left everything to you and left me with nothing!
