A Fresh Start Built On Love

When My Sick Wife Was Attacked I Disowned My Mother

Three whole days passed, and Evelyn's high fever finally broke completely.

The bright pink color returned slowly to her soft, healthy cheeks.

She was able to sit up in bed and eat warm soup.

My mother tried calling my phone dozens of times every single day.

She sent long, angry text messages demanding a full written apology.

She even had my aunt call me to preach about family loyalty.

"Family is about love, auntie, not abuse," I told her calmly.

I blocked my mother's phone number on my cell phone permanently.

I also hired a local worker to change all our front locks.

We installed a strong new security system around the whole perimeter.

Evelyn came down the stairs on Saturday morning feeling much better.

She smiled brightly when she saw the warm morning sun outside.

"It feels so light and peaceful in here now," she said softly.

"Because this is our safe home now," I replied, hugging her.

We cooked a large breakfast together in the clean, quiet kitchen.

The heavy dark shadow over our marriage had finally cleared away.

I learned that standing up for love takes real, true courage.

Toxic people have no right to stay in your peaceful life.

Even if those toxic people happen to share your own blood.

Evelyn rested her warm head gently against my broad shoulder today.

"We are going to be just fine, aren't we?" she asked quietly.

"We are going to be better than fine," I promised her warmly.

We had fought for our home, and our love had won.
