Code Black Over Dallas Texas

When His Bruised Daughter Cried A Father Ended An Empire

A massive booming sound echoed across the distant horizon as high-end server farm buildings owned by the Vance family corporation lost power in downtown Dallas. Automatic fire suppression systems triggered across three separate office towers as emergency system overrides took down their private networks. The sub-bass rumble of the city's power grid shifting loads created a deep vibration that could be felt right through the soles of their shoes. Windows rattled in the frames of the Vance mansion as news helicopters began circling overhead in the bright blue sky.

Julian grabbed his father's arm, his eyes wide with pure horror and shock. He looked around his beautiful yard, watching as security guards began dropping their radio earpieces and walking away from their posts. The private security team had just received automated text alerts that their payroll accounts had been cleared out and canceled. Nobody was going to guard a billionaire who had no money left to pay them.

Julian: Where are the guards going? Why are they leaving us?

Richard: They aren't getting paid anymore, Julian. Nobody works for free.

Julian: Call the police chief! He's your best friend!

Richard: I just tried! His assistant said he's executing a warrant for my arrest!

Julian: Arrest? For what? We didn't do anything wrong!

Richard: Tax evasion, fraud, and corporate assault... the files were just released!

Julian: This is a nightmare! Wake me up from this nightmare!

Thomas walked slowly toward the heavy iron gates and pushed them open with a single hand. The gates swung wide without resistance, creaking loudly in the quiet afternoon air. Thomas stepped onto the private marble driveway, his heavy boots making a firm crunching sound against the loose gravel. He did not look angry or wild; his eyes were calm, dark, and deep like a quiet storm. Behind him, Chloe stepped out of the sedan and stood near the passenger door, watching her father move with powerful grace.

Thomas: Down here, Julian. On your knees right now.

Julian: You can't command me in my own house!

Thomas: This isn't your house anymore, boy. The bank took it five seconds ago.

Richard: Do what he says, Julian! Please, just do what he says!

Julian: Dad, no! We are the Vances! We don't kneel to anyone!

Richard: There is no Vance family anymore! We have nothing left!

Julian looked at his father, who was already dropping to his knees on the hard marble terrace, crying like a lost child into his hands. The proud man who had ruled Dallas real estate for thirty years was completely broken in less than five minutes. Julian's legs began to shake uncontrollably under his velvet trousers. His knees buckled under the weight of total financial ruin and public humiliation. He sank down onto the cold stone beside his broken glass, staring up at Thomas with wide, terrified eyes that begged for mercy.

Julian: Please... don't send me to prison, sir. I'm sorry!

Thomas: You didn't apologize to my daughter when she cried.

Julian: I'll give her the ring back! I'll give her all my cars!

Thomas: She doesn't want your toys. She needed your respect.

Julian: I'll do anything! Just tell your radio people to stop!

Thomas: The wheels of justice are already turning, Julian. No one stops them now.
