Clara walked briskly out onto the green grass toward the wedding arch.
The wedding guests turned their heads in confusion and whispered softly.
Mark stood near the wooden altar in his fine grey designer suit.
He looked handsomely dressed with a sleek dark blue silk tie.
His face turned pale as he saw Clara walking out early.
Clara: Mark, please tell your mother to leave me alone!
Mark adjusted his dark blue tie and looked extremely nervous.
He glanced back toward his mother, who was walking behind Clara.
Mark: Clara, calm down in front of all these wealthy people.
Clara: She just ripped my mother's dress on purpose!
Mark: She is just trying to help you fit into our circle.
Clara could not believe the words coming from his trembling mouth.
She held her small pregnant belly tightly with one trembling hand.
Her heart pounded heavily against her chest in total disbelief.
Clara: Why are you letting them humiliate me like this?
Mark: It is not a big deal, we can buy another dress later.
Clara: You are just standing there while they ruin everything!
Mark: This is completely out of my hands right now!
The guests began to murmur loudly among themselves in their seats.
Mark's father stepped forward from the front row with a cold smirk.
Harold: You should listen to my son if you want this marriage.
Clara: I thought you loved me for who I am!
Mark: I do, but my family controls our future inheritance and business.
Clara realized then that Mark was terrified of losing his family's money.
He was willing to let her suffer just to keep his allowance.
She pulled her smartphone out of her small bridal bag quickly.
Her hands shook violently as she tapped on her saved contacts.
