A Cold Shock of Reality

When Her Husband Defended His Mother, She Called Police

Eleanor shrieked in horror as Officer Miller pulled her arms behind her back.

Eleanor: Mark, do something right now!

Eleanor: You cannot let them take your mother away in handcuffs!

Mark stepped forward to grab the officer's arm in panic.

Mark: You can't arrest my mother, she is a prominent community leader!

Officer Davis: Step back sir, or you will be arrested for obstruction of justice.

Mark backed away slowly, his face completely pale with fear and embarrassment.

Sarah: You thought your wealth protected you from basic law and order.

Eleanor: You evil girl, you planned this whole thing to ruin us!

Sarah: You brought this upon yourself the moment you tried to degrade me.

Officer Miller led Eleanor out the front door toward the waiting police cruiser.

Mark turned toward Sarah with deep anger burning in his eyes.

Mark: You just put my elderly mother in a jail cell!

Sarah: She put herself there when she committed a crime.

Mark: Our marriage is officially over as of this moment!

Sarah: I agree, Mark, and it should have ended months ago.

Mark: You will get nothing in the divorce settlement!

Mark: The prenup you signed guarantees you won't touch a single dollar of my trust fund.

Sarah walked over to her leather briefcase resting on the hall table.

She pulled out a thick legal document with official court stamps on the front page.

Sarah: You should really read financial documents before signing them, Mark.

Mark: What are you talking about?

Sarah: My personal estate attorney reviewed the original property deeds last week.

Mark: This mansion was purchased by my family business thirty years ago!

Sarah: Your father sold seventy percent of the business shares to my investment firm last year.

Mark stared at the paperwork in Sarah's hands as his knees began to shake.

Mark: That is impossible, my father would never do that!

Sarah: Your father wanted to save the business after your mother nearly bankrupted it.

Sarah: I am the majority owner of this entire property, Mark.
