Veronica knelt down on the hard floor right next to Richard with a desperate look.
She reached out her arms as if trying to take the crying toddler away from him.
Veronica: Oh thank goodness you caught her, Richard!
Richard: Get your hands away from my daughter!
Veronica: It was an absolute accident, I swear!
Veronica: She slipped right past me so fast!
Richard held Maya closer against his brown velvet blazer while standing up slowly.
He noticed a small silver brass pin glinting inside Veronica's right hand palm.
It was the exact safety pin used to lock the upstairs balcony security door tight.
Richard: You unlocked that gate on purpose, Veronica.
Veronica: How could you say such a terrible thing?
Veronica: Let the nanny take Maya to her bedroom now.
Richard: She is staying right here with me.
Veronica stepped closer to Richard and lowered her voice to a sharp whisper.
Veronica: Do not make a scene in front of our guests.
Veronica: Think about your company reputation and our prenup.
Richard glared at her with intense furious eyes as his jaw tightened in absolute rage.
He pointed his finger directly at the front entrance doors across the grand marble foyer.
Richard: You are going to pack your things right now.
Veronica: You are being completely irrational over a little slip!
Richard: You almost let my daughter get severely hurt!
The guests nearby went completely silent as they realized the intense argument taking place.
Veronica backed away slightly while holding her neck in fake offense and shock.
She glanced at the massive American flag hanging gracefully along the grand hall wall behind them.
Richard motioned for his trusted private security guard to come over to his side immediately.
