Arthur ran into the room, looking confused and pale.
He looked at his brother David, then at his terrified bride.
Arthur: What on earth happened here?
David: Your bride just kicked Toby and mocked his tears.
Arthur turned his gaze toward Evelyn, his eyes full of shock.
Evelyn quickly tried to change her expression to look weak and innocent.
Evelyn: It was an accident, Arthur! He tripped me!
David: Stop lying to everyone in this room.
David reached into his suit jacket and pulled out a thick envelope.
He had hired a private investigator just two days prior to check her background.
He originally intended to show Arthur privately after the ceremony ended.
Now, there was no reason to hide the dark truth any longer.
David tossed the documents onto a clear section of a nearby table.
David: Read page three, Arthur.
Arthur picked up the paper with trembling, nervous fingers.
The documents proved Evelyn and Victoria had massive secret gambling debts.
They planned to transfer Arthur's entire family trust fund into offshore accounts.
They viewed Toby and David as threats to their sudden fortune.
Evelyn wanted the boy pushed out of the family long before the wedding.
Arthur looked up from the papers, his face turning bright red with rage.
The truth was exposed right in front of all their wealthy wedding guests.
