The dining room felt unusually cold.
Nobody reached for their food anymore.
Every eye remained fixed on Sophie.
The little girl looked completely unaware of the tension she had created.
To her, she was simply answering a question.
Daniel carefully watched his wife's expression.
Emily's breathing had become noticeably faster.
Before anyone else could speak, Emily's older sister suddenly stood up.
Her face was filled with anger.
"She's just a child!"
The words echoed through the dining room.
She glared at Sophie as though trying to silence her before she said anything else.
The unexpected outburst made everyone even more suspicious.
Daniel slowly looked back at Sophie.
"Sweetheart..."
he asked softly,
"Are you sure?"
The little girl nodded without hesitation.
Then she quietly pointed toward Emily once again.
"Mama saw it too."
Silence.
Complete silence.
Guests looked toward Sophie's mother, who sat frozen at the opposite end of the table.
She lowered her eyes but didn't deny what her daughter had just said.
Daniel's heart began pounding.
If both the child and her mother had seen the same thing...
Then this wasn't imagination.
Emily slowly pushed her chair backward.
Nobody spoke.
Nobody moved.
The room was filled only with nervous breathing and the sound of a clock ticking somewhere in the hallway.
Daniel stood up.
His eyes never left his wife.
Without another word, he started walking toward the upstairs hallway where the bedroom closets were located.
Emily's face turned pale.
She knew exactly what he was about to look for.
And deep inside...
She realized the innocent words of a little girl had just uncovered a secret that could destroy everything.
