Victoria gasped in total disbelief as the maid confronted her boldly.
She backed up half a step while clutching the thick envelope tightly.
Victoria: Have you completely lost your mind, you foolish servant girl?
Elena: I will not allow you to intimidate this little boy any longer!
Victoria: He needs to sign these guardianship papers for the family lawyer!
Elena: He is three years old and cannot even write his name yet!
Leo hid safely behind Elena’s grey apron while sobbing very quietly.
Elena gently reached down and pulled the frightened boy into her arms.
She held him close and stroked his soft brown hair gently.
Elena: You are safe with me now, little sweetheart.
Victoria: Hand him back to me this second or you are fired!
Elena: You do not have the legal authority to fire me, Victoria!
Victoria: I am Arthur’s wife and I run this entire mansion now!
Elena stared directly into Victoria’s cold and angry blue eyes.
She knew that Arthur had never given Victoria control over his staff.
Arthur had explicitly trusted Elena to care for his only beloved heir.
Elena: Mr. Sterling specifically placed me in charge of Leo’s daily safety.
Victoria: You are just a hired maid who cleans our dirty floors!
Elena: I care more about this family than you ever will!
Victoria raised her hand in sudden anger and pointed at the door.
Victoria: Get out of this house before I call the local police!
Elena: Go ahead and call them so they can see these documents!
Victoria froze instantly at the mention of the legal documents in hand.
Her face went completely pale beneath her heavy layer of expensive makeup.
She folded the thick folder behind her back to hide the headings.
Victoria: You have no idea what these papers are even about, Elena!
Elena: I know those are the inheritance trust papers for Leo’s future!
Victoria: That money belongs to the Sterling family estate, not a child!
Elena: Leo is the only legitimate heir to his late mother’s fortune!
Victoria took a menacing step toward Elena with her teeth clenched tight.
Victoria: You are interfering in matters far beyond your simple understanding!
Elena: I understand greed whenever I see it right in front of me!
