Sarah walked out of the nursery holding Leo safely in her arms.
She saw Evelyn standing right near the top edge of the grand marble staircase.
Evelyn had a heavy glass vase in her hands near the tall wooden safety gate.
Sarah: Evelyn, what are you doing with that glass near the stairs?
Evelyn turned around with a mean smile resting on her dark red painted lips.
Evelyn: I am fixing the decorative display before Mark comes through the front door.
Suddenly, Evelyn deliberately knocked the thick safety gate off its heavy iron hinges.
She threw the heavy glass vase down the marble stairs with a loud crash.
The sharp glass shattered everywhere across the white marble floor of the lower foyer.
Evelyn let out a loud fake scream that echoed throughout the whole vast house.
Evelyn: Help me! Sarah just shoved the safety gate down the stairs!
Sarah froze in complete shock as she listened to the malicious lie being shouted.
She pulled Leo tighter against her chest to keep him away from any danger.
The front door swung open loudly as Mark rushed inside from the warm driveway.
He looked at the shattered glass lying across the bright white foyer floor in shock.
Mark: What happened?! Who did this to the entrance area?!
Evelyn pointed her long painted fingernail down at Sarah with a frantic expression.
Evelyn: Sarah tried to throw things down at me while I was cleaning!
Sarah: That is a complete lie and you know it, Evelyn!
Sarah walked down the stairs carefully, step by step, holding Leo away from debris.
Sarah: She deliberately broke the child safety gate to create a dangerous mess!
Sarah: She wanted to make it look like I was reckless with our son!
Mark looked back and forth between his wife and his cold stepmother above.
His face grew pale as he saw the broken safety gate hanging off the wall.
Mark: Evelyn, why were you even touching the nursery gate in the first place?
Evelyn: I was only trying to protect the house from her sloppy care!
Evelyn: She is trying to turn you against your own family, Mark!
Leo began to cry softly, startled by the harsh raised voices in the foyer.
Sarah patted his back rhythmically to soothe his fears in the tense atmosphere.
Sarah: Look at the gate hinges, Mark, they were unscrewed deliberately from behind.
Mark stepped closer to the bottom of the stairs and examined the damage carefully.
He picked up a small metal screwdriver lying near Evelyn's silk house slippers.
His eyes burned with deep anger as the full truth hit his mind instantly.
Mark: You planned this whole scene to frame my wife today, didn't you?
Evelyn: No, Mark! Don't listen to her lies! It was an accident!
Mark stepped up toward Evelyn, his voice trembling with pure righteous anger and disgust.
Mark: How dare you put my family in danger inside my own home!
