Arthur looked back and forth between his pale wife and his agitated mother.

Elena held out the open laptop toward Arthur so he could read the message.
Elena: Read the email sent by your mother's personal lawyer just two hours ago!
Arthur took the laptop from Elena's shaking hands and scanned the bright screen.
His face grew dark with rising anger as he read every shocking word of the scheme.
Arthur: Mother... you planned to strip my wife of her parental rights behind my back?
Victoria: She does not belong in our high social class, Arthur! I did it for you!
Arthur: You did this out of pure selfishness and pride, not for my family!
Arthur stepped between his mother and Elena, shielding his wife and child completely.
