Victoria backed toward the open doorway of the quiet library room.
She looked around frantically for a way to save her position.
Victoria: David, we can work this out between ourselves!
Victoria: We do not need lawyers or police officers involved!
David: There is nothing left for us to work out, Victoria.
David: Our marriage is completely over as of this moment.
Sarah: You will give back every single dollar you stole.
Victoria: You have no power here, Sarah!
David: She has all the power because the law is on her side.
David held the legal inheritance papers tightly in his right hand.
Victoria tried to snatch the folder away from his firm grip.
David stepped back easily and kept the files safe from her reach.
The sound of sirens echoed in the distance outside the mansion.
Victoria froze as the flashing lights reflected on the library windows.
Two police officers walked into the grand hallway of the house.
David called out to them from the open library door space.
David: Officers, please come inside this room immediately.
The officers entered the library with sharp and alert eyes.
David handed the blue legal folder directly to the head officer.
David: My wife kept my sister captive and stole her legal trust fund.
Officer: Is this true, ma'am?
Victoria opened her mouth but could not utter a single word.
Her face went red with deep embarrassment and anger.
The head officer read through the signed legal papers carefully.
He looked up at Sarah and saw the crescent birthmark clearly.
Officer: Sarah Miller has been listed as missing for five years.
Sarah: I was kept away by force until today, officer.
Officer: Victoria Miller, you are under arrest for fraud and illegal restraint.
The second officer stepped forward and placed handcuffs on Victoria’s wrists.
Victoria cried out in protest as metal clicked shut around her wrists.
Victoria: You are making a huge mistake, officers!
David: The only mistake was mine for trusting you so long.
The officers led Victoria away down the bright marble hallway.
David turned to Sarah and gave her a warm comforting hug.
