Two police officers moved quickly up the grand curved staircase with their hands on their holsters.
Victoria did not attempt to run as the officers reached the second-floor balcony corridor.
Officer Miller: Victoria Vance, put your hands behind your back right now.
Victoria: This is a massive misunderstanding between family members!
Officer Miller: You have the right to remain completely silent during this process.
The officer clicked the silver metallic handcuffs securely around Victoria's slender wrists.
She let out a soft cry of anger as they turned her around toward the stairs.
They escorted her slowly down the steps past Marcus and the weeping Elena.
Victoria: Elena, please tell them not to arrest me! I am your sister!
Elena: You stopped being my sister the moment you pushed me over that railing.
Victoria: I was just angry about the money! I didn't mean to hurt you!
Elena: You tried to destroy my life for an inheritance settlement check.
The officers led Victoria out the front door toward the waiting police patrol car.
An emergency medical technician walked into the foyer carrying a large black medical kit.
Technician: Ma'am, let me check your heart rate and check your ankle for injuries.
Elena: I am just shaken up, but Marcus caught me before I hit the floor.
Technician: You are extremely lucky he was right outside when it happened.
Marcus handed a small digital flash drive from his pocket directly to the lead detective.
Marcus: Here is the full security video footage from the balcony camera feed.
Detective Davis: This video evidence will make the state prosecutor's job very straightforward today.
Marcus: She will face full criminal charges for what she attempted to do here.
Detective Davis: Attempted assault with heavy endangerment carries a severe prison sentence.
Elena looked at the empty balcony above, feeling a deep sense of heavy emotional sorrow.
The family estate that brought so much joy in childhood was now stained by betrayal.
Yet, looking at Marcus, she knew she was not standing alone in this struggle.
