Vanessa forced herself to laugh.
"You think one phone call can scare me?"
Adrian calmly stood and placed another document on the marble table.
It carried the official seal of Sterling Global Holdings.
"I wasn't hired to manage investments."
"I was hired to investigate financial abuse."
Silence spread across the room.
Claire looked up in confusion.
Adrian continued.
"For three years, millions of dollars have disappeared from company trust accounts."
"Every transfer led to private accounts controlled by Vanessa Sterling."
Vanessa's confident expression slowly disappeared.
"You're lying."
Adrian shook his head.
"The banks already confirmed the transactions."
"And after my call..."
"Every account connected to those transfers has been frozen."
Within seconds, Vanessa's phone began vibrating.
One notification after another appeared.
Transaction Failed.
Account Restricted.
Corporate Access Suspended.
She frantically tried calling her financial adviser.
No answer.
Then another call came in.
It was the board of directors.
She answered with trembling hands.
After only a few seconds, the color drained from her face.
"They know..."
she whispered.
Adrian turned toward Claire.
"There is one more thing you deserve to know."
Claire frowned.
"What?"
Adrian handed her a sealed envelope.
Inside was a signed employment contract.
Not for housekeeping.
For the position of Executive Compliance Manager.
Claire stared at him in disbelief.
"I don't understand."
Adrian smiled for the first time.
"You were never sent here to be a servant."
"You were working undercover with our investigation."
Claire's eyes filled with tears.
Months earlier, after exposing financial fraud at another company, she had secretly agreed to help investigators gather evidence against Vanessa.
The bruises.
The insults.
The humiliation.
She had endured everything to uncover the truth.
Now the mission was over.
Police officers entered the penthouse moments later and escorted Vanessa away for questioning.
The same employees who had once been too afraid to defend Claire quietly applauded as justice was finally served.
One elderly housekeeper hugged Claire tightly.
"I'm sorry we couldn't protect you."
Claire gently smiled.
"I know."
"You were protecting your families."
Before leaving the penthouse, Adrian looked at Claire.
"You never stopped fighting."
She glanced at the spotless marble floor she had spent hours cleaning.
Then quietly replied,
"No."
"Because the truth is always worth protecting."
That evening, the blood disappeared from the floor.
But the stain left by cruelty remained in everyone's memory.
And the maid they believed was powerless walked out of the penthouse with something far greater than revenge.
She walked out with justice.
