A scream shattered the celebration.
Near the center of the foyer, a woman in a white evening gown lay trapped on the marble floor.
A gold stiletto heel pressed painfully against her dress, preventing her from getting up.
She struggled to breathe.
Across the room, her husband, Daniel, turned toward the commotion.
The color drained from his face.
Sweat formed across his forehead as he rushed toward her.
Standing over the frightened woman was Vanessa, dressed in a maroon gown.
