Victoria: Richard, you can't believe this maid over your own legal wife! I have rights under our prenuptial agreement!
Richard: Your prenuptial agreement became completely void the second you committed child abuse inside this house, Victoria.
Victoria: Abuse?! Spinning a child is not abuse! My lawyer will laugh that out of court in two minutes!
Elena: What about the liquid medicine you tried to force into his milk bottle ten minutes ago, Victoria?
Richard froze, his body going rigid as he turned his head slowly to look at Elena.
Richard: What medicine, Elena? What is she talking about?
Elena: I found a small glass dropper bottle hidden inside her designer purse on the kitchen counter, sir. She was pouring three drops into Liam's afternoon warm milk right before she grabbed him.
Victoria: She's making that up! That was just pediatric vitamin drops!
Elena: I saved the bottle, Mr. Sterling. I locked it inside the kitchen pantry safe before I ran out here to stop her.
Richard: Elena, go fetch that bottle right now. Leave Liam with me.
Elena gently passed the whimpering toddler into Richard's broad arms. She stood up from the floor, smoothing down her uniform apron, and walked fast toward the kitchen archway. Victoria scrambled up onto her knees, her beige dress rumpled, her manicured nails digging into the hard stone floor.
Victoria: Richard, don't look at that bottle! She tampered with it! She planted something in my purse to frame me because she wants you for herself!
Richard: Keep quiet, Victoria. If you say one more word before the police arrive, I swear I won't wait for the court to deal with you.
Victoria: You called the police?! On your own wife?! Think about the press, Richard! Think about our corporate stock price!
Richard: My son's life is worth more than every share of Sterling Enterprises combined.
Elena returned through the archway holding a clear plastic bag that contained a small brown glass bottle with a white dropper cap. She handed it directly to Richard.
Elena: Look at the label, Mr. Sterling. It isn't vitamins.
Richard held the bottle up to the bright light of the chandeliers. His eyes scanned the small printed text on the back, and his face instantly drained of all color.
Richard: Pediatric Sedative... Restricted Clinical Compound...
Victoria: It's a mild sleeping aid! He was crying all morning and I needed him to sleep during the trust fund meeting!
Richard: This is a prescription nerve suppressant that stops a toddler's heart if given in high doses, Victoria!
Victoria: I didn't know! The doctor who gave it to me said it was completely safe!
Richard: What doctor gave this to you? My son's pediatrician never authorized any sedative!
Elena: She didn't get it from a pediatrician, Mr. Sterling. She got it from Dr. Harrison—the same doctor who signed your late wife's private medical release forms two years ago.
