Victoria: Where... where did you get that locket?
Elena: You know exactly where it came from, Victoria.
Victoria: Answer me! Who gave that silver pendant to you?!
Elena: My sister gave it to me before she died in that hospital room seven years ago.
Richard: Mother, what is going on here? Why are you staring at that necklace?
Victoria: Richard, stay back! Do not touch that thing!
Richard: You just called out Aunt Celeste’s name. Why does the maid have Celeste’s locket?
Leo: Mommy Elena isn't a maid! She's my mom!
Victoria: Be quiet, Leo! She is a liar who tricked her way into our home using fake references!
Victoria lunged forward, reaching her hand out to snatch the silver locket off the marble floor. But before her fingers could touch the metal, I reached down and picked it up, clutching it tight inside my fist.
Elena: Don't you dare lay your hands on my sister's memory again.
Victoria: Your sister? You are a lying street beggar! Celeste never had a sister!
Elena: Celeste had a twin sister, Victoria. The sister your mother hid away in an orphanage in Ohio so you could inherit the entire Sterling estate!
Richard stepped forward, his eyes wide in absolute disbelief as he looked between me and his mother.
Richard: Mother... is this true? Did Celeste have a twin?
Victoria: No! It is an absolute lie! She read old newspaper articles online and bought a cheap replica necklace to blackmail us!
Elena: Open the locket, Richard. Look at the engraving inside the back cover.
Victoria: Richard, do not open that! Throw her out of the mansion right now!
Richard: Hand it to me, Elena.
I reached out my hand and placed the cool silver locket into Richard's palm. Leo held onto my black apron, his small body shivering as he glared at his grandmother.
Richard pressed his thumb against the small side latch. The silver cover clicked open, revealing a faded black-and-white photograph of two identical infant girls, along with a handwritten date stamped into the silver: May 12, 1994.
Richard: May 12, 1994... That was Celeste's birthday.
Elena: And my birthday too, Richard.
Victoria: Richard, give me that necklace right now! It is private family property stolen from my late sister’s room!
Richard: Mother, stop shouting for one second! Look at her face! Look at her eyes!
Richard took two steps closer to me, staring directly into my tear-stained face under the bright hallway lights. His hands began to shake violently as he realized the truth he had been blind to for months.
Richard: The hair... the shape of your chin... You look exactly like Celeste.
Elena: Because I am her twin sister, Richard. Your mother hid my true identity seven years ago to steal the family trust fund.
Victoria: I hid nothing! You were a mistake that my family paid to keep away from our corporate name!
Leo: Stop calling my mom a mistake, Grandma!
Victoria: She is not your mother, Leo! Your mother died in a hospital seven years ago!
Elena: My sister Celeste died in that hospital, Victoria. But before she took her last breath, she gave birth to Leo and handed him to me!
