The Arrival Of The Police

The Secret Wall In My House Held My Lost Child

Loud police sirens echoed down the quiet suburban street within ten short minutes.

Red and blue lights flashed brightly against the large front glass windows.

Brian opened the heavy oak front door as two uniformed police officers rushed in.

They held their gear cautiously as they entered the bright high-ceiling hallway.

Officer Miller: Sir, where is the child? Is everyone safe inside right now?

Brian pointed toward the living room couch where Maya sat with her sister.

Brian: My daughter Maya is over there. She was inside that wall opening.

Officer Miller looked at the gaping hole in the destroyed drywall structure.

He saw the dirty blanket, stale food crusts, and scattered garbage inside.

His face hardened into anger as he turned to look at Sarah.

Officer Miller: Ma'am, keep your hands where I can see them right now.

Sarah backed away toward the dining table with panic written on her face.

Sarah: It was a misunderstanding! I was protecting my family's legacy!

Officer Davis: Step forward and turn around right now, ma'am!

Officer Davis stepped forward quickly and grabbed Sarah's wrist with strong authority.

He pulled her arms behind her back as metallic handcuffs clicked loudly shut.

Sarah burst into fresh loud screams of rage and utter panic on spot.

Sarah: Brian! Tell them to stop! You can't let them arrest me!

Brian: You brought this on yourself the moment you hid our baby.

The two officers forced Sarah down onto her knees on marble floor.

They secured the handcuffs tightly while reading her legal rights out loud.

Sarah cried face-down against the cold marble floor under the American flag.

Brian walked over to the couch and sat beside his twin daughters.

He pulled both Maya and Lily into his strong protective physical embrace.

Maya leaned her dusty head against Brian's chest, feeling warm and safe.

Maya: Is that woman going away now, Daddy?

Brian: Yes baby. She will never ever hurt or hide you again.

Paramedics walked into the home carrying a blue medical kit bag quickly.

They knelt gently in front of Maya to check her heart and eyes.

Paramedic: She is malnourished and weak, but her vitals are currently stable.

Brian: We are going to the hospital right now to get her full care.

Officer Miller walked up to Brian with a small notepad in hand.

Officer Miller: Sir, you saved your daughter tonight. You are a brave father.

Brian: I am just glad my girl Lily gave her that piece of bread.
