Arthur snatched the court document from the table, his eyes darting frantically across the black legal text.
Arthur: What is this? This is my father’s old probate filing. It was closed six years ago.
Marcus: Read section eight, Arthur. The section your father specifically instructed me to seal until an act of fraud was committed against your heirs.
Arthur's lawyer leaned over his shoulder, his eyes scanning the clause before he let out a horrified gasp.
Arthur's Lawyer: Arthur... the moral forfeiture trigger. Did you know about this?
Arthur: What trigger? My father left the entire trust fund to me!
Marcus: He left you the managerial rights, contingent upon your honorable execution of parental duty. The moment you forged a document to strip Lily Vance of her rightful inheritance, your executive authority terminated.
Clara: Everything your father built, Arthur. Every single share of Vance Capital belongs to Lily now.
Arthur dropped the papers as if they had caught fire, backing away from the conference table.
Arthur: No! That's impossible! I am the head of the family business! The board will never approve this!
Marcus: The board doesn't have a choice. Judge Holloway already signed the temporary restraining order freezing your corporate accounts at ten this morning.
Arthur: You froze my accounts? I have payroll to make on Friday! I have personal loans tied to that firm!
Clara: Then I suggest you find a way to pay them back yourself, Arthur.
Arthur lunged forward, slamming his palm against the glass table with a deafening crack.
Arthur: You ruined me! You planned this whole thing!
Before Marcus could stand up, two armed county marshals stepped through the doorway of the boardroom.
Marshal: Arthur Vance? We have a warrant for your arrest on felony counts of document forgery, grand theft, and filing false legal instruments.
Arthur looked between the marshals, his expensive suit suddenly looking oversized on his trembling frame.
Arthur: Wait! This is a domestic dispute! This is a civil divorce matter!
Marshal: Not according to the district attorney, sir. Hands behind your back, please.
Arthur’s lawyer slowly backed away from his client, closing his briefcase with a quiet click.
Arthur's Lawyer: I cannot represent you in a criminal proceeding, Arthur. I am withdrawing as your counsel immediately.
Arthur: Donald! Don't you dare walk out on me! Clara, tell them to stop! Think about Lily!
Clara stood tall, her eyes cold and clear as the cold steel handcuffs clicked around Arthur’s wrists.
Clara: I am thinking about Lily. That’s why I'm making sure she never grows up around a liar like you.
Arthur shouted curses as the marshals escorted him out through the glass doors, his voice echoing down the corridor until the elevator doors chimed shut.
The boardroom fell into a deep, peaceful stillness.
Marcus turned to Clara, offering her a soft, genuine smile.
Marcus: It’s over, Clara. The judge granted full temporary custody of Lily to you, along with emergency control of the family estate.
Clara exhaled a breath she felt like she had been holding for seven years, tears finally slipping down her cheeks.
Clara: Let’s go bring my daughter home, Marcus.
