Evelyn lifted the heavy leather pouch higher over the open dark opening of the well.
Her face showed a cold determination that shocked Mark to his very core.
He had known her for fifteen years, but he had never seen her like this.
Mark: Destroying those legal documents is a serious crime under the law!
Evelyn: Nobody will ever know what happened to these papers except for us!
Mark: The attorney knows you were the last person in that study today.
Evelyn sneered as she leaned her hip against the worn stone rim of the well.
Evelyn: That lawyer works for whoever holds the deed to this land.
Mark: My father trusted you to take care of this entire family!
Evelyn: Your father cared more about his legacy than he ever cared about me!
Mark felt his hands shaking with growing frustration as he listened to her harsh words.
He remembered how hard his father had worked to build this family property.
The estate was supposed to be a place of unity for everyone after his passing.
Instead, jealousy and greed had turned the peaceful house into a bitter battleground.
Mark: Hand me that pouch and we can solve this like adults.
Evelyn: You think you are entitled to everything because of your last name!
Mark: I only want what my father explicitly wrote down in his final will.
Evelyn raised her chin defiantly as she held the pouch directly over the void.
Evelyn: You will not get a single cent from this estate, Mark.
Mark lunged forward in a desperate attempt to grab the falling leather strap.
Evelyn released her grip just as Mark reached out his hand over the edge.
The heavy leather pouch plummeted down into the dark abyss of the old well.
A loud echoing splash echoed up from the cold water deep below them.
Mark froze in shock as he stared down into the pitch black water.
Mark: What have you done to our family's future, Evelyn?
