The Police Arrive

The Secret Closet Hiding My Missing Daughter For Three Years

The loud red and blue emergency lights flashed bright against the window curtains.

Two official police cruisers pulled into the gravel driveway with loud sirens.

Mark stood near the front doorway while holding Lily tightly in arms.

Sarah was frantically pacing around the living room like a trapped animal.

She was trying to pack a small leather handbag with cash notes.

The front door opened wide as Officer Vance stepped into the house.

Officer Vance was the lead detective who had searched for missing Lily.

His jaw dropped in absolute shock when he saw the small girl.

Officer Vance: My god... Is that really Lily standing right there?

Mark: It is Lily, Detective. She was inside our house the entire time.

Officer Vance: What do you mean she was inside this house?

Mark pointed his shaking finger directly toward the open hallway closet door.

Mark: My wife locked her inside that storage cupboard for three years.

Officer Vance looked at Sarah with a look of pure disgust and anger.

Sarah dropped her heavy leather handbag onto the carpeted floor below her.

Sarah: He is lying to you officer! I found her outdoors today!

Mark: Look inside that closet! Her small blankets and clothes are there!

A female police officer walked into the hallway to examine the scene.

She shone her bright flashlight into the dark lower cupboard shelf space.

She found tiny child drawings taped to the inside wood panel walls.

She found plastic water bottles and little worn toy figures in corners.

Female Officer: Detective, this child has definitely been living inside this closet.

Officer Vance drew his heavy silver handcuffs from his tactical leather belt.

He walked directly toward Sarah who was crying loud hysterical fake tears.

Sarah: You cannot arrest me! I am a respectable member of society!

Officer Vance: You have the right to remain silent, Mrs. Sarah Miller.

He pulled her hands behind her back and snapped the cuffs tight.

Sarah struggled against the heavy metal cuffs while screaming at her husband.

Sarah: Mark, tell them to stop! You need me in this house!

Mark: I never want to see your terrible face ever again, Sarah.

The female officer brought a soft white warm blanket for young Lily.

She wrapped the cozy fleece blanket gently around the girl's small shoulders.

Female Officer: An ambulance is waiting outside to check her overall health.

Mark: I am coming with her every single step of the way.

Mark carried Lily out the front door into the warm summer afternoon daylight.

Neighbors gathered along the green sidewalk street in total unscripted shock.

They watched in silence as Sarah was led away in handcuffs.
