David walked down to his personal study to call his legal team.
He sat behind his massive wooden desk and dialed his trusted lawyer.
He explained the dangerous situation that had just unfolded in his home.
The lawyer advised David to secure all financial documents and estate keys.
David walked over to the heavy iron safe hidden inside the wall.
He opened the digital lock and pulled out Victoria's personal file.
Inside the folder were documents he had never carefully reviewed before.
David hired a private investigator months ago as a simple formality.
He began flipping through the private investigator's old sealed reports.
To his complete shock, Victoria had been married twice before this.
Both of her previous husbands were wealthy men who lost everything.
She had sued both former spouses for substantial alimony and assets.
Victoria had intentionally targeted David after studying his public business records.
She knew about his vast real estate holdings and valuable trust fund.
David felt a deep chill run straight down his broad spine.
He realized his marriage had been a cold, calculated setup from start.
While he was reading, the sound of glass breaking echoed upstairs.
David put the dark documents down and moved quickly out back.
He walked up to the master bedroom and saw the door open.
Victoria was frantically pulling locked drawers open and tearing through jewelry.
She was trying to steal expensive items before leaving the estate behind.
David stood in the doorway with his arms folded firmly across.
He told her that every item in that room was itemized.
Victoria spun around, holding a diamond necklace tightly in her hand.
She claimed the expensive necklace was a gift from their recent wedding.
David reminded her that all gifts were contingent on marital honesty.
He raised his mobile phone and showed her the active recording screen.
The police were already on their way to the estate address.
Victoria dropped the diamond necklace onto the cold wooden floor instantly.
She realized she was backed into a corner with no escape.
Her grand scheme had crumbled into complete and absolute public ruin.
