A tall man wearing a dark tailored business suit stepped through the doors.
Richard stood in the doorway flanked by two uniformed police officers.
His face was dark with anger as he looked up at the landing.
Richard: What is going on in my house right now?!
Victoria froze in place and instantly dropped her raised hand.
She forced a bright smile onto her face and took a step back.
Victoria: Richard, darling! You came home so much earlier than expected!
Richard: I asked you a clear question, Victoria. Why are you shouting?
Victoria smoothed down her plum dress and began walking down the steps.
Victoria: The maid was being completely disrespectful to me, sweetheart.
Clara: That is not true, Mr. Richard!
Leo ran down the marble steps as fast as he could toward his father.
Leo: Dad! She tried to throw me out and hurt me!
Richard dropped his heavy leather briefcase onto the floor with a loud thump.
He knelt down instantly and wrapped his large arms around his young son.
Richard: Are you okay, Leo? Did you get hurt?
Leo: Dad, she pushed me toward the stairs on purpose!
Richard raised his head and locked his sharp eyes onto Victoria.
A heavy low rumble of anger filled his voice as he stood up.
Richard: Is this true, Victoria?
Victoria: Of course not! The boy is making up wild stories to get attention!
Clara walked down the stairs calmly, carrying a small black recording device.
Clara: She was planning to alter your legal estate trust fund today, sir.
Victoria: Shut your mouth, you lying maid!
Clara: I recorded her phone call with her lawyer ten minutes ago.
Clara pressed a button on the small device in her hand.
Victoria's voice played clearly through the speaker across the room.
Device Victoria: I am not going to let an eight-year-old child inherit thirty million dollars!
Victoria's face turned completely white as the recording continued to play.
Richard's jaw clenched tightly as he listened to every single word.
Richard: You came into my home and tried to ruin my family's future.
Victoria: Richard, please let me explain! It was just a misunderstanding!
